Cloud Storage on Learning Environments-Supported PCs and Macs

In December 2021, the Office of Technology (OIT) began decommissioning personal home drives, also known as “U drives.” They are no longer available on classroom or lab computers. Home drive storage usage was declining and resided on legacy on-premise end-of-life hardware. Cloud storage options provide improved resiliency with greater capacity and features.

As an alternative to home drives, a number of cloud storage solutions are offered by Rice, which include Microsoft OneDrive, Google Drive, and Box. In selecting one or more of these options to use, you may want to compare different features, including storage limits, collaboration features, file-sharing capabilities, and available integrations with other technology such as Microsoft Teams.
